Public Information Notice on the Issue of Air Quality

The Department of Labour Inspection (DLI) of the Ministry of Labour, Welfare, and Social Insurance, acting as the Competent Authority for Air Quality issues, operates a network of air quality monitoring stations located in various areas throughout Cyprus. Under the legislation on air quality, the monitoring stations are classified according to their lacation as Traffic Stations (Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Pafos, Paralimni), as Residential Stations (Nicosia, Limassol), as Industrial Stations (Zygi, Mari), and as Background Stations (Ayia Marina Xyliatou, Troodos).
The pollutant concentrations at the above mentioned stations, which include sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (ΝΟ, ΝΟ2 και ΝΟx), ozone (Ο3), carbon monoxide (CO), particulate matters (PM10 and PM2,5), and benzene, are measured in real-time and are available to the public through a dedicated website maintained by DLI for Air Quality, www.airquality.gov.cy.
DLI, within its competence and following the development of the mobile phone application for Android devices, has now proceeded and developed the same application compatible with iOS (Apple) devices, in order to meet the needs of as much as possible of the population as possible. Similarly, to the Android version, the iOS version also allows any interested party to access information on air quality, including the pollution level colors on the map of Cyprus, as well as the concentration of pollutants at each monitoring station.
It is noted that the information is presented likewise in the application as it is on the current dedicated DLI website on Air Quality, www.airquality.gov.cy.
